Mission: Linking Faith and Service Vision: A Bridge to a Brighter Future Through Lifelong Learning

History of Organization

Glade Run Lutheran Services (Glade Run) is a non-profit organization, operated in affiliation with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and in partnership with the Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod. Our mission, “Linking Faith and Service” epitomizes the strong foundation and beliefs upon which Glade Run was created to serve vulnerable children, families and adults in need. Our purpose is to offer a brighter future and lifelong learning through our comprehensive quality care, treatment and educational services for at-risk children, youth, and adults. Glade Run’s main operations are located on 336 acres in rural Zelienople, Pennsylvania, approximately 25 miles north of Pittsburgh. Founded in 1854 by William Passavant as The Orphan’s Home and Farm School, the organization has grown and changed in scope to now serve the mental health and specialized education needs of individuals throughout Western Pennsylvania. In addition to our Zelienople campus, we operate four satellite offices and one site for Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services in Butler, PA. Glade Run provides services that are of quality and value to the mental health consumers of Allegheny, Butler and Beaver Counties by offering a continuum of services which covers the spectrum of clinical needs from the least restrictive to the most restrictive. These services (which are provided at various in both a community and mobile format are: Family Based Mental Health Services (Beaver and Butler Counties); Psychiatric Rehabilitation (Butler County); Outpatient Clinics (Beaver Falls, Pittsburgh, Cranberry, and Butler; School Based Mental Health Services (nine school districts across Allegheny, Beaver, and Butler Counties); Blended Case Management (Beaver and Butler Counties); and Behavioral Health Rehabilitative Services (“Wrap-around”). During our decades of service, we have developed well established partnerships with resources for housing, drug and alcohol services, psychiatric care, and educational/vocational service providers. We are skilled at providing a variety of therapeutic interventions to assist individuals who seek treatment. Practicing from a recovery oriented, co-occurring friendly model, Glade Run believes that all individuals have the potential to heal, grow and thrive regardless of their level of need. Glade Run has a well-structured system of administration which makes us uniquely qualified to provide services to several target populations. The President/CEO and the Chief Operating Officer manage the day-to-day operations with the assistance of a three-person Executive Management Team that includes two departmental Vice Presidents (Vice President of Clinical Services and Vice President of Education) and the Executive Director of the Glade Run Foundation. Our senior management team has members with experience operating mental health programs for over 15 years. Glade Run has been providing community mental health services to the people of Allegheny, Beaver and Butler Counties for more than 15 years. From these Community Service locations we provide care and treatment to hundreds of individuals and families each year. As an agency, we have continually evolved our programming to meet the diverse needs of the consumers we serve. We currently provide services along a continuum of care that allows for consumer needs to be met at varying levels.
